Could you do the same for Knorr stock pots, Santa, without which I cook virtually nothing (including cull yaw biriani) savoury at all ...

I daren't Phil. I use the Knorr stock cubes and I know they're not going to be full of anything much better than the Calnort ones. But I would recommend Kallo stock cubes and in particular the chicken ones which are, for me anyway, the best flavoured stock cubes. And the ingredient list doesn't stop my heart just by reading it.

Ingredients:
Sea salt, potato starch*, sustainable palm fat *, sugar*, chicken fat* (3.5%), yeast extract*,  natural chicken flavour, chicken powder (1%), spices* and herbs* (turmeric*, black pepper*, parsley*, rosemary*), onion*, *Organic ingredient

Allergen Advice: May contain celery

Calnort lamb stock contains the following ingredients:

    Salt
    Corn starch
    Monosodium glutamate
    Sugar
    Palm oil
    Hydrolyzed vegetable protein (with soy)
    Yeast extract
    Artificial and natural flavoring
    Onion
    Extra virgin olive oil

Makes me shudder just reading it.

Holy bad-word! Is that real saffron in your saffron rice? Must be the most expensive rice ever with that amount.

I've never had Chicken 65 and your version looks very appetising. But what's the sauce in the middle picture? Do you get the chicken bits and a seperate sauce to go with it?

Are you sure, Santa ?  Mustard oil is a standard ingredient in (e.g.,) Bassar curry masala, so if ever you have eaten a Pakistani curry (as opposed to, say, a Bangladeshi one), you would almost certainly have consumed mustard oil.

** Phil.

Ah yes. I do indeed make a vindaloo with bassar masala and insist on the "damp" kind that clearly has plenty of mustard oil in it. But really I don't think I've knowingly had a bought curry with it in. Unless it's so little that it's not that evident.

I would at least have given it a go. It's the copious amount of food colouring that's offputting.

Never had a bought curry with mustard in it or mustard oil. Is that a balti thing?

"Be sure your sins will find you out" — is that what you are saying, Santa ?!

Indeed, but not being religious I would have put it more prosaically ... you are what you eat.

I knew your propensity for excessive salt, sugar and most other bad stuff would get you in the end Phil. Good to hear you're on the mend though.

Good man! I still think the tartare sauce is a bit posh, even though I do like the stuff. Boxed fish and chips ... what were you thinking?
