Feel like an introduction is in order, even tho I joined nearly 6 years ago!
Kinda drifted away from home made curries, but back with a vengeance! I have a compulsion to make everything myself. Beer, curry, kitchen, even a car!
Took a trip to a rather well stocked asian supermarket buying vast quantities of spice (tempted by ones I'd never even heard of before!)
Made a batch of CA's base sauce and ready to go, starting tonight. Along with a nice home brewed beer  8)
Just need to decide what to make now, cheers!

I've searched about but only recipes I've found appear to look more like a chunky jam sort of thing.
I'm thinking of something closer to a dry salsa type pickle (hopefully this is making sense!)
Quite tangy and hot.
If anyones been to britannia spice in edinburgh you'll know what I mean hopefully!
Anyone have a recipe? (or a clue what I'm on about!  ;D )

Lets Talk Curry / My first curry
December 06, 2007, 09:40 AM
Made it last night using Kris Dhillons Curry Secret book.
Got in a wee bit of trouble with the missus this morning as she realised exactly how much onion smell had been absorbed into everything in the flat! (she eventually found a jumper that smelt ok!  ;D )
Anyhoo, having an internal kitchen was sweating like mad! The curry base turned out a reddy orange. Was it supposed to be yellow?
Anyway, the curry of choice was Chicken Bhuna. Didn't use any food colouring so it was a bit brown, and whilst it was the best curry I've made, it was in no way remotely similar to anything from BIR. I think it had a little too much cumin in it, and the chillies I used probably completely wrong. (used generic sainsbury's ones!)
Still, can't expect brilliance from the first attempt!
I did think the base was a little bland. Used a little less ginger than recipe said as I've noticed a couple folk say they thought there was too much.
Cheated with the pilau rice and used a tub of shwartz pilau seasoning. Couldnt be bothered with the whole hog after doing the curry base and meat!

Greetings y'all!
I love a good curry (obviously else I wouldn't be here!) but I'm no very good at making them!
I consider myself an adequate cook who can cope with most cuisines, but the art of curry making has so far eluded me!
This looks to be a cracking site and I can't wait to get stuck into some of the recipes. Not long had my lunch but still my mouth waters at the recipes!
First up, looks like I'll need to buy a lot more spices, and also make room in the freezer for the toilet roll!  ;D
