Lets Talk Curry / -chicken Katsu curry
October 20, 2015, 11:07 PM
Hi all,was exploring the River Test with possibility of good, reasonably priced fly fishing for trout.Probably too dear for me.We stopped at a pub, right on the River and the meal I chose was chicken Katsu curry, very tasty
The basis is chicken strips rolled in peppered flour and covered in Japanese Panko breadcrumbs, not Bir but nevertheless a cracker.Got the recipe from the chef:30 mins prep,up to 1hour cooking, dependent on heat required. Will certainly give this one a go.

Lets Talk Curry / taste and taste again .
July 20, 2015, 06:13 PM
Relatives came down from across the border to see how their "wounded soldier" was getting on.

"How you fancy doing us a curry"Explained veg and high protein at present."well have some of that"
Did a mushroom and pea curry with samosa baked potato(Cantrells kitchen)

Put potatoes in the oven and proceeded with the curry.
In to the pan with cumin seeds, then garlic.Stirred adding chopped mushrooms some chopped ginger and a few chopped fresh green chillies, stirred for a while adding some garam masala.Put in two tbs of tomato puree and 3/4 pint chicken stock.Stirred and brought the boil, then simmered adding yogurt.Cooked gently, then served with potatoes.
Stuffed potatoes tasted good, the curry, talk about "quetta earthquake plus",pass the water, pass the beer.It was hot,did not taste as I normally do.The curry tasted good, just too hot, even for the rellies. They braved it saying get back to the meat".
  The moral,taste and taste again.
Happy curries Geoffbrick

Lets Talk Curry / wild garlic.
April 09, 2015, 08:18 PM
Been foraging in the wilds of Warwickshire and collected a goodly bit of wild garlic.
Got home, washed it,used it in a Chicken Tikka salad with croutons and mayo, has anyone used it in a serious curry dish?Tasted ok with the salad.Perhaps it's good for arthritis!!!

Nature of my trade, meant that being outside, stretching in lousy weather,or nosebleeders in wet trenches.Hence rheumatism/arthritis,curries have got to be good for me,haven,t they?
I keep taking the painkillers, there,s no way I would give up curries(all these spices are no good for you)!!!
My older relatives love them so that,s good enough for me.I still want to be playing guitar(badly),that,s

something I,m not giving up,plus the odd wee dram and Guiness.I seriously reckon thats not a bad diet.
