Jut discovered this site and thought I would sign up and give some of your excellent recipes a try!  I really like the idea behind this forum, I have tried cooking Indian meals at home and have never managed to get the BIR (took me a few minutes to figure out what that stood for when I first saw it...) taste so I am looking forward to getting a wee bit closer to that with my home cooking.

So, what recipe would you recommend as a good starting point for a complete newb, who hasn't even made her own base sauce before?  Also, my local does an excellent Begum Behar and I have also just recently discovered their staff curry.  Any equivalent recipes like that on here?  Thanks guys!
