UB's Chicken Pathia
« on: April 05, 2014, 07:25 PM »
Made this tonight. I wasn't too impressed but Mrs G thought it was good, so the jury is still out :) Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a curry (shock horror)!

The cooking method in the original recipe meant the onions were underdone (for me). Maybe I should have recognised that beforehand. I also thought it needed a wee bit more sweetness - the tamarind and lemon came through nicely, but I would add some mango chutney next time, I think.

Served with cheese naan.

Think yourself lucky Mrs G approves. My missus came back from holiday the other week desperate for curry so I made her a Chicken Pathia. That was lovely says she so I made it again last week with exactly the same ingrediants, exactly the same measurements and cooked identically to the last one. Too tomatoey, (is there such a word?) I'm not keen on this one says she. Gggrrrhhhhhhhhhhhh.  >:(

When the onions are cooked to the right point they should taste sweet and therefore make the meal sweet  ;)

Looks lovely Garp. I gotta branch out. Got the madras spot on now. Every Fri or Sat I have to make a mild, normal and extra hot Madras with pilau, sides and Naan and deliver to family.
It's lots of work but I love it! Love the process of all the prep but I am very grateful to have a dishwasher  :D

Recommend taramind in a pathia- complements the tomato + lemon perfectly.
