Dear All,

I just found this website through the google links at the top

Its worth a look and maybe a gamble, as it appears they are a restaraunt selling spice mixes.
There are also some interesting recipes for Madras and online Video's demostrating the cooking process.

I can't view the videos yet but if some one else does please report back.
It might be worth giving this a go?

I watched the videos, and they all showed a closeup of a flat-bottom wok and hands adding ingredients.? There was no sound, at least on my computer.? The list of ingredients crawled along the bottom.? Often a domed wok-lid was used to cover the curries.? The most interesting thing was that the chicken was added to the curry raw.? It wasn't cooked in any way before adding!? Also, the onion bhaji batter was kneaded by a rubber-gloved hand to soften the onion before frying.? That probably puts some onion juice in the batter, which might be nice.?

I see their curry recipes use 100 ml oil for 4 servings.? Also, they use yogurt for chicken tikka, but I think this forum is leaning toward a yogurt-free tikka as the authentic one.?

I must be missing a trick with QuickTime videos. I've lost count of the number of times I've downloaded the plug-in but it never seems to work the next time! So I can't see the video either.

I'm interested to see their use of onion powder and coconut flour, which are two ingredients I already had in my list of things to try. But I suggest these are not recipes for the BIR curries we seek. If we widen the scope to any good curry, there are hundreds of books and websites we could list.

85g of either the onion powder or coconut flour cost ?2.90 each. What a price! I guess they are looking for a healthy profit. I'm sure these two ingredients are available at any half-decent Asian grocer for a fraction of that price.

I have never seen onion powder for sale at the asian shops I go to.
Maybe it goes under a different name.
I don't reckon restaurants use it

You're right Pete, it's a joke!  How can you replicate a proper curry with onion powder.  Any chefs looking in now must be having a good laugh at us even considering this.
