What vegetable is 'drumstick'
« on: April 08, 2010, 08:52 PM »
I have come across a Kerala vegetarian dish that refers to 'drumstick' as one of five vegetables in the dish. Unfortunately I have no idea what this is, can anyone steer me onto the right path please?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Axe,

After my silly answer to your serious question, I thought I'd have a proper look for you :)

Found this:  http://www.nandyala.org/mahanandi/archives/category/indian-vegetables/munagakaayadrumstick/

Could be what your looking for?

Also, check out their slogan just under the heading, nearly as good as 'cook with passion not paste'   :P

Ray :)

Funnily enough I was looking at chilli seeds (again) yesterday and I came across these drumstick seeds. They look a bit weird but might be worth a gro.

I think I recall seeing some of these used in a cookery programme. If I remember rightly they were described as being similar to okra. Can't for the life of me remember which programme though :-\

Domi, don't loose sleep over it, I won't if I can't find them. Very odd looking things indeed.
