Hi All,

Can someone please advise me on how best to remove tumeric stains from a (cream coloured!) carpet?   :o

Suggestions from those that actually have experience of successfully doing so would be greatly appreciated!  :P

Having spent many years perfecting a replica BIR irremovable yellow curry stain (is this the true meaning of "spot on" I wonder?  ;)), I accidentally dropped, what was a very nice chicken phal, all over a nice cream carpet....AND before a morsel of it had chance to pass my lips! :'(

Needless to say, I did scoop up the chicken and made the most of what was otherwise a very sad story  ;D

...and then there is the carpet.... ::)

All suggestions greatly appreciated  :)

Can't think of any miracle cure, Tumeric is a real b****** for staining as numerous shirts of mine will testify.
It might be time to check out your contents policy.

Long story short. Rebuilding kitchen. Was keeping oven. Turmeric spilt and left on oven handle. Bloody great yellow stain, impossible to remove, on ceramic cooker. Bugger!

350 notes later, stain gone (new oven!)   ::) ;D

Try soaking the stain with Coke... Have you seen what it does to old coins.

CA,
Keep the stain damp with a towel and water,
call an expert ASAP don't go for a good deal
just a company that knows how to help you now !
book them to come back next week.

I use milton for any stains on my oven
It takes about an hour to work
Carpets though,I don't think it can be done
Anything that kills the colour of the turmeric also gets the colour of the carpet.

Is your handle varnished wood?  I noticed that turmeric stains on varnished/laquered wood tend to fade by themselves over a few days, particularly if exposed to sunlight.  Stains on plastic tend to last a long time!

Tip: Always wear a white shirt when eating curry.  :o
.... then you can use household bleach to remove the turmeric stains. ;D

From experience, not Tumeric though, if the stain is that bad you should contact your insurers who will give you the number of their approved cleaners they will then assess the problem and advice accordingly.
