Did anyone see Rogue Restaurants on BBC1 last night 14th August 2008.  Hidden cameras were planted in two Indian restaurants in London and showed some of the most disgusting things imaginable.  One clip showed an Indian cheff washing in the kitchen sink where the food is prapared and washed his feet, hands, face and then emptied his nostrils into the sink.  It has put me off Indian restaurants for life.  Just think, this could be the missing "taste" that we are looking for.

Yeah it was disgusting HOWEVER one interesting point was when the undercover guy was being shown how to make tikka massala.Bearing in mind the restaurant prided itself on not using any artificial colours or ingrediants the chef then produce a big tub of Patak's kashmiri massala paste and proceded to spoon a large dollop into the pan with the comment 'that's what gives it it's flavour'.I've always wondered why my take-away has loads of massive Pataks pastes on it's shelves and why they really don't want you peering into the kitchen!!!!!

It was bloody bad and  mean't to be a fairly up market place- All I can say is more power to cooking your own curry.

I didn't see the program, but they probably only showed it, because it was so bad.
It's not usual practice
You occasionally get  dirty people, in all manner of trades, not just BIR's.

Some people have less fortunate conditions than others,too.
Why, I know someone with "never ending flakey elbows", thank goodness she doesn't work at Kellogs.........

Yes, true, a dirty bugger, is a dirty bugger, whatever job they are in.I worked in a few cafes here in Blackpool when i was younger and saw some practices that were dubious to say the least. Put me off pre made coleslaw for life for a kick off.

Talking of dirty kitchens, a Chinese takeaway 2 mins from me has just been shut down, 46 offenses he was charged with!!!

These dirty buggers used the sink 5 times a day as they were Muslim and obliged to wash before praying, which leads me to think that if a restaurant doesnt have a changing room then a lot will use the kitchen sink.

When I use the phrase dirty buggers, I wasn't referring to the people in the rogue restaurant program directly, just people who don't care/ or to save money etc(like the Chinese near me that i mentioned) when producing food for human consumption. If a restaurant doesn't provide separate washing facilities for staff, then that's a major violation of health and safety standards. If an owner doesn't provide facilities for his staff then he should be penalized accordingly.

I don't care what religion dictates/ or what religion people practice,Hygiene comes before any religion, but if your washing your body in the same area that food is being prepared,,  then I would say your in the wrong line of work.
