Inspired by a recent posting by Ajoy Joshi in his
weblog, I ordered some raw prawns from Ocado yesterday and today cooked Nergis's
Taraporee Prawn Patio (
Kolmino Patio, or "prawn patia"). And, sad to say, it was a terrible disappointment. The recipe calls for 1/2 cup brown vinegar (I used sherry vinegar) and 2 1/2 tablespoons roasted brown cumin in addition to smaller quantities of garlic, chilli, turmeric and salt. I prepared the sauce exactly to spec. (despite not having 1kg of prawns : I had 150g), then portioned the sauce
