I'd have to agree with you reference the growling, never really understood it. I once saw a youtube clip someone posted of a song that was 22seconds long if you can call it that, which simply consisted of the singer giving one almighty 'wwwhhhooooaaaarrrrr' in a low tone whilst the band thrashed their instruments as hard as physically possible. I actually felt for the poor drummer, who struggled to keep up. The whole thing was completely beyond any rational thought and watched bewildered, yet strangely, the crowd appreciated it in bucket loads of applaud! Nowt queer as folk!
