I'm going to ask for my money back on those two packs - they were that bad.  It says on the pack to phone 0845 if you're not 100% satisfied. I'm not even 10% satisfied.

I find it hard to believe, though, that they can have different mixes/recipes of sweet potato dhansak, or anything else, within a few feet of each other.

I wish I could get my money back when one of my home-made curries doesn't turn out right !

As Commis says, it is probable that the original message was about the curries that are served loose from the delicatessen counter; these do seem better than the pre-packaged  ones, in my experience.

Rather than buying a curry from Asda George, I would recommend you cook Lorrydoos CTM, it is pretty easy to do, not at all unhealthy compared to an Asda curry in my honest opinion, not that they are unhealthy either (I don't know there ingredients), but you know what has gone in to the CTM.  You like blades tikka so give it a whirl, it is far better than any shop bought curry I have ever had and probably quicker than going to Asda, looking for your curry etc etc (presuming you have the spices tho )

George, well at least you gave them ago. The Korma I would have left on the shelf but I am a little surprised that you didn't enjoy the Dhansak. I guess it all comes down to individual tastes. As a side dish, i'd be very happy to buy the Dhansak.

Axe, please could you say which deli, little black ones from the counter or clear plastic from the side chiller, so we all can better relate to the regional tastes and preferences.

The produce is from the Deli counter i.e. the open containers that they fill for you. However, as you will see from George's picture, they also prepare it ready in containers at the side.

I doubt there is any regional variation in the recipe being sold. The Dhansak, may not be everyone's cup of tea but I am sure the Sag Aloo will go down well.

As I said, I am not comparing these dishes to anything BIR, just that I was pleasantly surprised at the finished dish being palatable, which for all intents and purposes, is not something I would say about supermarket Indian style dishes in the main.

made the mistake of buying one of Daves curries from Makro a few years back - made school dinners taste appetising it was that bad - wrote a letter of complaint questioning the buyers abilities - no response

Ghoulie, that's the problem I don't think they actually give a S*!?. I'm interested though on how the ASDA products are judged across the country being from one supply.

Yes, these were at the side in my store, also. The good news is that they've refunded me in full (?2 korma and ?1.50 Sweet potato dhansak). Next time I visit the store, I'll ask if the containers I had are filled from any large container they may have further along the counter, or whether there's a difference.

PS Isn't there anything anyone can do to get the forum software to accept the pound sign, rather than inserting a question mark? Sometimes I use the Forex letters GBP but it's not ideal.
