Topic: ASDA Deli Curry

I find that ADSA's curries from the deli counter are, on the whole, pretty good. I quite like Chicken Tandoori Masala when I just want to heat something up. I know we've had discussions on the forum before about the decline of Indian takeaways and this must be one of the contributing factors.

I do get the odd deli one from Asda to take to work & they are pretty good, I do like there chapatis though they are great which is funny really as I am not a fan of them in BIR's as I much prefer naans.  I have also looked for the Sag Aloo from Morrisons but do not shop there very often and have never seen it either. 
I agree about Sainsburys they are rubbish.

well the pakoras were crap, the curry tasted like a spiced up lamb stew (had a bisto-ey taste) but the rice was OK....not great but not bad in a pinch. Only ate half.....CTM was awful according to 'im indoors....two thumbs down :/ and we've not had a curry for a couple of weeks....

you should try the asda chicken madras which is in the ready meals section - asda own brand - the chicken aint upto much but the sauce is actually quite nice from what i can remember - only ?2 i think

I think you'll find that the original report was based on Asda's bulk curries, George,  rather than their pre-packed ones; whilst I would never suggest that they are as good as a decent BIR, the bulk ones are not too bad, particularly if you are willing to respice them once you get them home.  I did try a Lidl curry once, when  it was on special offer; probably much the same quality as an Asda bulk curry.

I did hope I'd selected the same type. If not, how many different 'packages' of curry do they have available? There are curries with fancy cardboard packaging on the main chiller shelves. Then, these were next to the Deli. Are there yet more?
