Hiya
« on: May 11, 2010, 12:31 PM »
Jut discovered this site and thought I would sign up and give some of your excellent recipes a try!  I really like the idea behind this forum, I have tried cooking Indian meals at home and have never managed to get the BIR (took me a few minutes to figure out what that stood for when I first saw it...) taste so I am looking forward to getting a wee bit closer to that with my home cooking.

So, what recipe would you recommend as a good starting point for a complete newb, who hasn't even made her own base sauce before?  Also, my local does an excellent Begum Behar and I have also just recently discovered their staff curry.  Any equivalent recipes like that on here?  Thanks guys!  :D

Hi Gilly_M

Welcome to the forum.

Check out the recipes posted by Cory Ander for his base sauce, spice mix and the collection of main dishes. I say this because CA has produced very detailed and precise recipes that you can't really go wrong with.

Some of the latest posts here regarding Dipuraja's Youtube videos and recipes are interesting - I'm going to cook one tonight for the first time.

Any questions please ask away

Paul.

Hi Gilly and welcome to the forum.

I would definitely take PaulP's advise, and check out CA's recipes in the main meal section.  Each component has a link to the recipe and they are very very easy to follow. CA also adds a picture of how the finished dish should look too, so you have something visually to gauge your efforts by.  Of course, the taste is the most important element, and the CA recipes that I have tried, have always been bang on :D

Where abouts in the world are you Gilly, do I detect a Scottish accent in there? ;)

Ray :)

I had to go back and re-read my post to see what you'd guessed that from!  ;D Aye, Scottish indeed.  Ayrshire to be exact.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have a wee (there it is again!) look at those recipes.
