jamiebb728,

well pleased for u. there is quite a lot of info to sift through (and try) but clearly u're efforts are paying off.

just out of my own interest do u now feel sort of stuck as to how u could improve further - this is how i feel - i sort of can't really put my finger on how to bridge the gap to the top notch BIR. i think time and experience is the only answer.

yeah i know what you mean i think I'm there then its on my mind how to get that extra 1% but then again i had a take away the other week from the best BIR around here and it was the worst i have had in years and this is from the restaurant that wins all the curry awards so maybe its all in our minds that we can not make it to there standards maybe we are we just think we are not maybe it s because we are not in a restaurant and our mind convinces us that its not as good but I'm happy with what I'm doing so ill keep going and if i can improve that will be a bonus think i may end up single though I'm spending that much time on here ;D

the best BIR's can for sure have their off day's - at mine it's actually down to the propper chef not being there. the other chef is good but i don't think he has the consistent eye for ingredient that the no1 has.

a bonus as U say. yep my good lady gives me jip a lot too. ;D

I think your both right. I know the IG has it's off days and I put that down to the main chef not being there.

I also think that we are far too subjective on ourselves. Ray started a topic on this a few weeks back and you have to consider that once you arrive to producing the quality recipes as can be found on here, you may well get better results than your BIR.

I'd certainly be happy with that.

Hi Jamie,

I'm afraid to say this my friend, but I think you're hooked now, once and for all.  You have gone up 5 levels, just like most of us here but, now is where the obsession starts ;)

Trust me, after a couple of weeks, you will be striving for absolute perfection, even when your family and friends say that they have not had a better curry than yours.  You won't believe them, you will get paranoid and think that they are just being kind.

You will go to bed, thinking about the dish you made tonight, and the one that you will make tomorrow.  And when you get home from work and the missus asks "what would you like for dinner"  you will answer politely  Oh, Anything dear"  but all the while you will be thinking, curry, curry, CURRY!!!!!!

You will go shopping and see a lovely piece of fish and think to yourself  'mmm, wonder how I can turn that into a curry'

You will be in the pub with your mates and one will say, I knocked up a curry last night for me tea, and your ears will prick up, you will sit upright and quiz him on his ingredients, methods, techniques.  You will then realise that he is not on your level and you will smugly put him in his place!

You will be buying chewing gum by the kilo to disguise the hint of garlic and spice on your breath every day.

Your kitchen cupboards will soon look like the spice section in the biggest Asian superstore near to you and your home will constantly smell like your favourate BIR that you don't go to anymore because your curries are just as good.

or...................

You could just be sensible about things and have a curry twice a month ;D

Joking aside Jamie, well done, glad you've found success mate.

Ray :)

The worrying thing about your post Ray, is that your almost bang on the money. I haven't resorted to gum yet. ;)
