Lamb Karai

Many years ago I had a Lamb Karai curry in the Sheezan resturant in Rusholme Manchester. As I remember it quite an aromatic dry dish with a slight aniseed flavour. To this day it was the best curry I've ever tasted. I have tried many times to recreate it with no luck.
I have ordred it from a number of other resturants but it most often comes in a tomato based sauce. Any help would be very welcome.

Hi Hank,
Welcome to cr0, unfortunately a korai varies between restaurants so it's almost impossible to find a recipe that will be the one your after. It's a favorite of mine from one of the local BIRs and I did have a stab at copying it myself but with no luck.
There are a few recipes on here that you might want to try:

Hi Hank
I've got a wicked recipe for Karahi Lamb which I think is the same as Lamb Karai, just a variation on the spelling. I got it from a cookbook that I bought for four quid off the bookshop at work - all authentic Indian recipes and I've made quite a few of them - always good! The book is Best Ever Curry Cookbook by Mridula Baljekar.
I have scanned the recipe in and attached it, hope you can retrieve it OK! You might need to zoom in to get the script. Hope I haven't infringed any copyright - no doubt the moderator will let me know if I have.
Let me know what you think of it.

Many thanks Digsy. I will certainly give it a go. The inclusion of Apricots sounds interesting.
