Tandoor Oven and a spice cupboard

Well I'm about to embark on another little project or 2. I have been researching the possibility of the Tandoor. My intention is to either try to pick up a used one or build one from ordinary materials, some of which I already have.
I'm looking at the steel drum / terracotta pot method. Does anybody already have any experience with this? Is it a viable option? They look like the idea is reasonable to use well enough for a home application. Not sure whether to go gas or charcoal.
The other thing that needs doing is a cupboard to store my growing volume of spices and other ingredients. The kitchen is not huge and Mrs livo is shaking her head at my efforts to find places to safely store my collection of goodies.

http://www.gumtree.com/for-sale/uk/tandoor
http://www.baato.co.uk/tandoor
The KORKEN glass jars is what i use

Also look in Pound shops

I use the Mini Storage containers with the green lids for spices i use every now and then.
Mini Square ones for the spices i use regular but not in large amounts like cardamom powder, bay leaf powder etc.
The Stainless Steel Cocktail Spoons i use for the measuring out from the big glass jars from IKEA
