Panang Curry Paste
« on: August 09, 2014, 10:21 AM »

A work colleague gave me this Thai paste to try. There are instructions on the back but just wondered if anyone had tried it and had any tips :)

None whatsoever other than it reminds me of an old film I like...P'tang, Yang, Kipperbang!  ;D

Sadly, SS, I actually remember that film - and Kes  :(

Anyway the Thai Panang Yang Kipperbang (as it shall now be known) wasn't bad at all - not great but not bad. Mrs G liked it as it was nice an creamy but had a hint of chilli heat.

They filmed a lot of that film in the alley at the end of the road where I grew up.   :)

Never heard of the film, but I wonder if its name was inspired by the Northumbrian sheep-counting dialect ("yan, tan, tethera, ...") ?
