Hi Cp just come across this post , it is a very good idea matey, but Ck has a valid point as many amongst us have gone through all the DVD's promising enlightenment in our quest.
I would give credit to those who cannot criticise in a positive manner, it really does take exceptional ignorance & low self esteem to then go ahead & post it for all to see ;D.
To think Latin is a dead language points out an individuals poor grasp of our Mother Tongue (thats English ;D), we must set these poor wretches free by by educating them & therefore bringing true enlightenment into their malnourished minds.
They then in turn become worthy of sacrifice to the Dark lord in his Hellish Realm....Ahem

Thanks Mate, yes CK et al are right. So what we may do is just make up a home video type thing as a trial and send it to you guys for judgement. I might even get Mark to dress up in a Vader suit to give it some authenticity. ;D
I will ask Jengo to do some contracts for me!

Beware; Duct tape is like 'The Force.' It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together. ;D

hi cp
i think it is very good idea. i enjoyed the balti kitchen dvd but felt it lacked something .....the taste
it is about time someone out there gave the people want they want and marketed well it would spread joy and happiness throughout the land. i wasted 7.99 plus p&p on the curry magic dvd and imho it is crap it is supposed to be magic i wish it was........
then maybe i would have something of pc's actually worth the media it is written on(again this is my opinion).
anyway i would love to review a beta if 1 going
btw my local has been taken over by new management ( have been for a couple of months) they have been stars lately i ran out of chillies and they were more than happy to oblige on friday last the missus forgot the coriander (yes she is sacked now
) so last night i popped to the corner shop no coriander it was 1745 getting very dark and too far to tesco so pooped down to Rajver( old revised recipe posted) the door was locked so stuck my head round the side ouf the building because i heard voices the side kitchen door was open so i called out hello a head popped out i explained my situation and name dropped the old chefs name and he reached in to the frigde pulled out a bunch of .....coriander
so now i have met the new manager and the chef so who knows.........
i said the other day we were having takeaway on thursday had our usual set meal for 1, chicken tikka starter :Pchicken vindaloo :Pbombay aloo
pilau rice
and an extra onions bhajis
oh and plain naan ( bhajis and chicken tikka come with salad and mint sauce) all for ?15 delivered to our door and it was superb
i did notice that in there window a poster "nominated for 2006 customer satisfaction awards" .....gosh i'm so lucky
;D
anyway cp go go go
will look forward to hearing about your progress
regards
gary

Thanks Gary. I am just as apprehensive as everyone else, as my methods etc., are different in some ways from a BIR, and yes I have tons of books and hand written recipes from cooks friends et al; I never bothered with videos. As I said I have a meeting with Mark on Tuesday so we shal see what we can come up with. I think that because I have come to understand the CRO mission and its expectations I can be more focused on what it takes to make a real BIR curry. BUT..... and there is always one of these, as Ashes and others have said, it will depend on the base used (in this case it will be Mark's UCB), the freshness and origin of the spices, and the capability of the cooker! Mine is only a domestic range cooker mit Wok burner. As far as UCB is concerned, has anyone tried it yet?

CP how about you invite some friends around to taste the finished product? This could also be recorded for the film.. bit like Jamie Oliver does ;D
Im sure the video will be good, after all we haven't seen many professional chefs cook on film and its always good to see how something that is done properly!
Glad to see someone who has the motivation to do something positive, I understand why you run your own business and not just a home cook

I own the "Balti" and "Curry Magic" videos, and the problem, is the authors are unaware home (restauant style) curries are missing a flavour.
Therefore, there is no attempt, to get round this problem.
If it wasn't for this "problem", this site wouldn't excist.
Most cr0 members, have failed to get results by all other means.
Those means being:- The Curry Secret, Pat Chapmans books and Video, Madhur Jaffrey, Balti Kitchen video/dvd, 100 best Baltis, Authentic Balti Curry, Korma Sutra restaurant book.
I have spent a small fortune.
This site contains more valid information, than anything I bought.

I would be happy to take a punt on the video. Even if it doesn't deliver the goods, the money goes to a charity so, unless you begrudge that, I can't see how you can loose.
