Ive never heard of a 'Macher lal jhol', It does look fantastic though - Is there a recipe to go with the picture? ;)

Hi Mattie. Recipe essentially from Exotic East Indian Bengali Cooking by Subar Kumar Mitra.  Left out the paprika. Added a tsp of panch phoran, a few green cardos, and a good dollop of Coleman's mustard.  Used Kashmiri chilli powder/passata to give the vivid red colour.  Lots of fish stew/curry recipes on-line too.  I just adapt them to my taste.  Quite fancy the look of this one:
