This is my version of chilli

2 tbs veg or corn oil
4-5 onions, finely chopped
4 garlic cloves, crushed
3lb chuck steak, cut into bite size cubes (I suppose you could use stewing steak if you want)
5 tbs chilli powder
1 tsp dried oregano
2 tsp dried cumin
2 dashes tabasco sauce
3 tbs tomato puree
12 fl oz beer
1 heat oil in a saucepan, add onions and garlic until softened, add the beef cubes and brown on all sides, stir in the remaning ingredients and bring to the boil. cover and simmer for 45min,
2 uncover the pan and continue simmering for 20-25min or until the meat is tender,
3 taste and adjust the seasoning, serve hot with rice and red kidney beans
or with chips as phil say's
