Some Like it HOT!
« on: January 15, 2013, 07:39 AM »
I paid a visit to my local market, last weekend, and acquired this "Incinerator Extreme Hot Chili Sauce" which contains pure Capsaicin (which measures 15 MILLION on the Scoville scale!)!  :o

And here is their disclaimer:

BY PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT YOU MUST READ AND AGREE TO THE WAIVER BELOW:

I am aware that this product contains the hottest known ingredient in the world ? Pure Capsaicin, and hereby disclaim, release and relinquish any and all claims, actions or lawsuits that I or any of my dependants, heirs, family members or legal representatives, may have against Wildfire Chilli, Heatseekers Chilli and any party relating to any damage or injury that may result, or is alleged to have resulted, from the use, consumption, ingestion, contact or other use from Heatseekers Chilli Incinerator Extreme Chilli Sauce.

I agree that I am 18 years of age or over and will not give this to anyone under age and without their knowledge of the heat level and associated risks.
I will not consume if I have any health problems, including but not limited to Asthma, Heart complaints, Respiratory complaints or any other conditions or complaints. This should be added to food and only eaten in very small amounts.

To put that into perspective, the world's hottest chili, the Moruga Scorpion (an Aussie creation!), measures 2 million (or less) on the Scoville scale.

So pure capsaicin is more than 14 times hotter than the world's hottest chili!  :P

The company supplies a range of hot plants, sauces and seasonings (http://www.wildfirechilli.com.au/).

They also have a downloadable ebook on growing your own chillies (here: http://eepurl.com/rc0kz).

I also acquired Moruga Scorpion, Trinidad Scorpion, Bhut Jolokia (aka Ghost Chili), Habenero and Birds Eye Chili plants.

I look forward to trying all of them (especially the Incinerator Chili Sauce) in my phals  :P

...or any other conditions or complaints...

Doesn't leave much in the way of wriggle room! It'll be interesting to read your tasting notes - assuming you survive the experience lol! :)

Good grief! Now I like it hot, but that stuff sounds way beyond my heat tolerance levels!

A word of warning though folks. A colleague of mine ordered some seriously hot sauce over the internet, which contained pure capsaicin. It wasn't as hot as this, but was advertised as being the same strength as the pepper spray used by US police, at around 4million on the Scoville scale, I think.

The bottle had become damaged in transit, and when he opened the package the sauce went everywhere - over his hands, forearms, and his dog, which was as usual attracted by the rustling of packaging and looking for a treat.

The guy was in agony, and it felt as though his skin was being badly burned, but he was more worried about the dog.

He and the dog were cleaned up at the vets with no lasting damage (though the burning sensation lasted into the next day), and the dog was not bothered in the slightest. (The sauce had gone on his back, and apart from having protective fur, apparently their skin isn't as porous as ours.)

It was an extremely unpleasant experience, so if you do like it that hot, please be careful!

I always thought the toilet roll in the freezer tip was a myth. I've eaten some hot spicy foods in my time, I even sent back a phall once because it wasn't hot enough but I've never had the morning after problem though.

Sign of a good curry I am told - no need for iced paper.  ;) means the chilli is cooked out properly.

Be careful with this - a good friend (and professional cook) burnt his taste buds with Capsaicin extract. He cannot (presumably ever) taste salty nor hot anymore ... that in itself is a really big shame but as a cook it is a real problem!
