onions, onions, onions... . . . .. .. .. ONIONS!!!!!
« on: November 19, 2009, 03:25 PM »
Hi all

i wondering if a typical bir would used packs of ready sliced frozen onions.

I ask this because i cant see them going to all the trouble of cutting up maybe a 100 or more onions every day.

I know these onions can be purchased, infact have a bag of them myself in the freezer from farmfoods. just wondering if this is viable, also these onions actually work out cheaper than fresh onions, which would be right up the street of a bir.

any comments??

jimmy2x,

i've only seen fresh onion when i've been able to see from the counter.

i don't see why u can't use the frozen.

ps the cutting up don't take that long - i think i only 1/4 them. the skin seems to come off easier from the onion bought from asian stores (i think dutch onions). price is good too.

If you are cooks boy then you'll cut onions for months until he's satisfied. Just like peeling potatoes its dogs work, but if you prove you have staying power you'll progress if you do what you are told.

In short onions don't take that long if that's your job? Someone else will be doing something equally as boring on another station.
