Welcome to the commumity, I know what you mean about being overwelmed with the information. I have only really been cooking now for maybe 2 months or so (of my many years) and the way to start is to pick a base gravy and follow that. I used http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php/topic,923.0.html restaraunt gravy and vindaloo and it turned out great and very tasty and then went on from there. UB's naan recipe is good although me naans are not really there yet but my onion bhaji's are killer....

I have even branched out and am growing my own hot chillis.....

Be careful this is addictive.

I am new to this and tried this basic gravy fro a starting point. Slaved over the weekend to make it( I am NOT a cook) and tried it with my family last night. and it was excellent. I then took some small leftovers into work. I am a an expat Brit in S FL working with 3 other Brits. They all gave it the seal of approval and wanted more.

Thanks for the great site

I am an expat living in South Florida and in my part of town good curries are hard to get. Just got back from 2 weeks in the UK and got my full quota of vindallos to keep me going for a while. Thought I would try to make my own and found this site.

Cheers
Steve
