Copied verbatim from the side of a 10kg pack :
Cooking Instructions
Absorption Method :
- Put 1 to 1 1/2 cups of water into a heavy saucepan and bring to the boil
- Stir in 1 cup of Jasmine Fragrant Rice
- Cover, lower heat, and simmer for 18--20 minutes
- Remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 5 minutes
- Rinse rice with water once or twice before cooking
- For softer rice, addmore water and simmer for longer
It was [5] that amused me. I wonder how many people, using the rice for the first time, read that step only after completing steps 1--4 ?! And worse, how many mis-read it and and rinsed the rice /after/ cooking, thereby completely negating the benefits of the absorption method.
