Title: (Has anyone cooked) Taraporee Prawn Patio (a.k.a. Kolmino Patio) ?

Inspired by a recent posting by Ajoy Joshi in his weblog (http://thoughtsfromajoy.wordpress.com/), I ordered some raw prawns from Ocado yesterday and today cooked Nergis's Taraporee Prawn Patio (http://thoughtsfromajoy.wordpress.com/2012/08/15/dollys-mum/) (Kolmino Patio, or "prawn patia").  And, sad to say, it was a terrible disappointment.  The recipe calls for 1/2 cup brown vinegar (I used sherry vinegar) and 2 1/2 tablespoons roasted brown cumin in addition to smaller quantities of garlic, chilli, turmeric and salt.  I prepared the sauce exactly to spec. (despite not having 1kg of prawns : I had 150g), then portioned the sauce pro rata once it was ready for the prawns to be added.  As a change from my almost invariant pulao rice and chapati, I served the prawns with stir-fried instant noodles.  And, to be brutally honest, the 15p noodles were far better than the
