I can't believe I'm saying this, I made my first attempt at cooking a (real) curry last night and still can't believe that I actually cooked what we were eating. I used CA's Chicken Madras recipe (and his base). To say that me and Mrs BW were over the moon is an understatement.
I apparently now have the official title of "Household Curry Chef", maybe a few brownie points from she who must be obeyed are on the way.......
A big thanks to all on this site, special thanks to CA for the easy to follow recipes and the astounding result.
Onwards and upwards.
Thanks again
Bigwings ;)

Hi Bigwings,
It's always good to hear a success story. My first ever curry from this site (SnS Base and recipe) was an eye opener for me too. Now you can only get better.
Cheers,
Paul

Nice one BW, I love it when forum members have Eureka moments as it shows there is no secret and all you need can be found within.

Nice on bigwings. Just think, this is only your first attempt. How good are those curries going to get with some more practice. Judging from the first results your expertise are going to get plenty of practice ;)

Good on you BW, Just try and have a bit of self restraint.
I too have only recently acheived results that reached beyond my expectations.
The problem I have now is keeping my hands off the base as I've started to add it to everything and nearly used up my whole batch in a week. ;D
Yesterday they gave me a 1kg pack of uncoooked sausages (approx 20) left over from the pub barbecue.
I made a sausage casserole and then lost control and added a few ladles of base and Bombay potatoes to it and poplished the lot off today...
Be Strong... :)

Thanks to you all for your kind words and encouragement, I still can't believe how well the first at temp turned out. I've got loads of base left so curry number 2 is imminent, it's going to be something Lamb, (our favourite meat) so any suggestions are more than welcome.
Thanks again

don't it blow your mind Bigwings, my family want curry every day for tea now ::)
how i do my lamb (sheep leg from an halal butchers it has more flavor and it's what the take a ways use ;) )
enough for 7 curry's:
1 kg sheep leg cubed
8 TBsp sunflower oil
1 1/2 TBsp mix powder
1/2 TBsp tandoori masala powder
put oil, mix powder and tandoori masala in a pan that you have a lid for, on a medium heat and cook for 2 minuet.
now add the cubed sheep leg and stir till it as all changed color.
put lid on, turn down the heat to it's lowest setting and cook for 1 1/2 hours and test if it's not tender give it another 15 minuet.
take the meat out of the pan with a slotted spoon cool and fridge or use.
freeze what you don't use ;)
