Rich,

I've used beetroot juice as colouring in my rice with excellent results.

gives a nice colour and natural sweetness which you'll never attain from food colourings :)

ps...can also be great for dyeing clothes/hair etc...lol

mr.mojorisin have you used any powdered version of beetroot
I'm sure by drying it and making it into powder i can then add a tsp etc when needed
Food colourings are getting a pain to pick up out here
The dried turmeric is really strong for the yellow just need a red - then a green

I actually meant beetroot juice from jarred beets.
living in Glasgow, there ain't much beetroot growing going on here :)

I put a fresh beetroot from my garden in my base sauce, couldn't really taste it but it did give it a lovely colour.
