Hi Mick, regarding your book.
You say "Measuring 8 x 8 inch so it will lay open on your kitchen worktop when you use it."

Does this mean it has a ring binder, and perhaps laminated?
Also, how many pages?
Cheers, Frank  ;)

I don't think we need to worry too much about the competition from this site, especially when they're charging

Hi Frank,
Just to let you know the story...
The PDF that I have made has sold well for over 18 months.
It was bought by the owner of a business with publishing interests.
They spoke with me with a view of redesigning and printing the PDF as a book to go with Spice kits that they would be selling.
It was to allow anyone to make BIR style food from the one package.
For every kit they sell I would get a percentage.
I can sell the book separately as I wish. I have no other involvement with their products.

The book was in A5 format and was about 75 pages, now that it has been printed in a larger size it allows the book to stay open when on the worktop. The larger size means more information per page hence less pages, now 48, which means it was of a size that suited stapling.
I don't think for one minute that some of the more advanced chefs on here will necessarily learn anything new but there are plenty of people around who aren't as good as those who look down on a little free enterprise.

Some on here may have realised that I haven't said anything about the book on cr0, out of respect to the members. I didn't want to be accused of using this site for the purpose of advertising but as it has been raised then I will speak about it when asked.

I hope that answers your question.

Cheers,
Mick

Hi Mick,
I've just seen a copy of your ebook on a friends kindle and have noticed the layout is all over the place.
i.e. titles start at the bottom of the page, 2 lines of a recipe on one page and rest on the next etc.
Changing the font size or lines per page doesn't help.

Have you or anyone else had this problem?

Cheers, Frank.

Mick you are a real star mate - you go about it quietly NOT trying to push your book on the site - however why not its a curry forum site and im sure there are some who would like a link to it
Also There is no problem in anyone doing something to make a few quid - times are hard as they say

well done mate

best, Rich

Same here. And while I respect you wanting to stay quiet about it, I only found out about your book via someone mentioning it on here, otherwise I might never have chanced upon it.

Forums represent an excellent way of getting information out there, and as long as people don't go mad and turn them into free advertising portals, there's nowt wrong with a bit of pimping in my book. (Not that I've written one, or have any intention of so doing... ;)).

Purchased one e-book this week already which was a bloody good read about my favourite subject :).  Now purchased yours Mick which i'm sure will provide me with another great evening's reading.  Appreciate your contribution to this site and the videos that you have made available.  I think i've watched most of them at least three times, and I learn something with each viewing.  Keep up the good work mate  ;)

Hi

Only 2 weeks ago, purchased the printed version of the book myself. These e-book versions are indeed a great idea, but I like to have actual cookery books on a shelf - and especially ones as nice as Micks book.

Great quality presentation & production on the paper, photographs and printing. Much better that some of the more main stream books available too!. Good thorough content and some new recipes to try! lots of books seem to skimp on the starters and sides and there are a few of those in Micks books that look very nice!

Another very worth while addition to the growing collection on the subject!

Cheers

Thanks for that, SP. I already have the PDF, but now I'm going to have to buy the printed version too, dammit...
