Hi All,
Just trying out attaching photo's through Imageshack as I can't seem to get any luck sending pictures along with my postings.
Here is a photo of three dishes prepared last weekend.
http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/5628/kushifinisheddishes8gd.th.jpg
On the left is the Basic Balti Chicken from the Kushi Book. At the top is the King Prawn Patia.
The dish to the right is the Balti Kitchen Chicken Tikka Masala.
All three turned out really well, particularly the CTM. The two dishes from the Kushi book were very nice, the wife loved the King Prawn Patia but I have to say I agree with many comments on the site they are not instantly recognisable as having that BIR taste which will be dissapointing to some. They do claim to be "Balti" dishes so as such should be set apart from the BIR type we all enjoy.
However, I have had success with them and think they must be judged in their own right. As Pete has pointed out while there are some dissapointments in this book there are also some very good hint's, tips, ideas and other useful bits of info.
Hope you all get the picture!!......................literally!

Good picture Ray
It's silly that some people can't post on this site anymore
I can't either, but I don't think it's everyone
I thought the idea of photos of your curries was brilliant

I tried posting pictures of me reclaiming oil on the weekend but got the error about the attachment directory not writable, stu can you fix this?
-
Here's an attempt at presenting Ray's photo. If it comes up, all I did was attach the proper tags. It's nothing to do with this forum 'accpepting' the photos. And I'm no programmer!

George

Hi George,
So how did you manage to do that then?

I simply cannot comprehend how you or anyone else has difficulty posting pictures here. You've done the difficult bit in getting them hosted somewhere. I'd be amazed if this is anything to do with your browser or PC.
Click reply to open a new message, like I'm typing up now. At the point where you want to insert an image from your source, click on the second coloured icon from the left. If you hover over this icon it says 'insert image'. It's just to the left of the 'globe' icon.
This brings up img in square brackets followed by slash img in square brackets. Insert your image url in between, which starts with html and ends with .jpg or something like that. I just copied and pasted your link between open img and /img, both in square brackets. You can even type [img] and the other end manually.
I hope this helps.

I have followed the same procedure for attaching files and successfully posted loads of pictures.
All the Bruce Edwards stuff (for one thing)
Loads of curry pics too
But lately I just get an error message
I'll try a picture again
I'm going to "attach" and then browse for the "jpeg" file
Sorry, I just get
The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved.
This is a picture I have already posted too!

I tried attaching a picture by pasting the url that was generated on the imageshack site as George suggested in the previous post but must have pasted it wrongly.
It is just a matter of trial and error as I am sure it has a simple solution.
I wonder why the facility on the site doesn't accept photo files any more?

To make it a bit easier if you host the image with someone like imageshack they give you a "for forums" link to your image when you upload it, just cut and paste that into your post and it should work.? If you don't have a for forums link then George is correct in that you can just insert the URL to your image bewteen the IMG tag's hopefully you can see the image I have attached below:

This is a real mystery. I proved that it's possible to download your photo from your 'host' so it's not that the host doesn't allow photos to be loaded at cr0.co.uk.
Try copying, pasting and posting the following string AFTER REMOVING ALL FIVE *'s
For what it's worth (not sure) make sure it's all on one line with no spaces; not where I inserted *'s or anywhere.

Hi George,
There's no issue embedding a link to an image, the problem with the forum is recently it changed to not allow an upload of a an image file attachment.
Myself and Pete have done this quitre happily using exactly the same method in the past and it has been fine, now it isnt and its a technical issue with the forum, not user error.
cheers

The other problem with not hosting the files on the forum is that we don't know how long they will be up on the external hosts, we could end up with threads disscussing images we can't see. Lets hope the problem will be fixed sooner rather than later? ???

But there is an isssue, isn't there? Or am I missing a trick here? The whole focus of my messages was to try and get Ray to be able to display his images(s) like I've done 'on his behalf' from his same host - not mine, or hosted at this forum. I agree that the upload of an image to the cr0.co.uk server would be better if they have the storage and bandwidth, but it's not essential. I do share CK's concern about how long the images will remain on external servers.

Right then,
Thanks again George, CK and Mark J,
Here is my attempt following your instructions.

Sorry it's the same old photo but if successful at least it has shown me the way.

I have no probs posting images as I own a URL (web address) and after I've put them up there, I link to them with the little IMAGE TAG like this ...
[ IMAGE TAG ] URL/folder/picture.jpg [CLOSED IMAGE TAG ]
Obviously you need to have some place to put the pictures, but once you've got that, it's a piece of cake.
If anyone needs a palce to put curry images email them to me and I'll email you back the link to put in your psots. No problems!
:-)
