Hi HS
Chilli Powder, Coriander Powder, Turmeric Powder, Mustard Oil, Fenugreek Leaves, Cumin Powder, Bayleaves, Mustard Seeds, Cardamom Powder, Cinnamon Powder, Black Pepper Powder, Cloves Fenugreek Powder, Nutmeg Powder.
Now the trick is to professionally blend all these ingredients ;)
Much easier to buy a packet ;)

Thanks Guy's,
I know I can buy it on-line, But SHMBO won't have our card details put on the web since we where hacked into a couple of years ago, >:( (Luckily we had a gold card and our money was refunded by the bank,) But since then, No Way.
Hence asking for the recipe.
I do have a question though, Where does the mustard oil come in if this is a powder?

i think this is the answer
One thing I have noticed that seems odd, the shelf-life of King of Spices Basaar does not seem very long for some reason, compared to normal ground spices. I've had a couple of bags up to now, and you only get a couple of months to use it up! The consistancy is strange too, it's almost slighty damp or oily, compared to a 'normal' free-flowing spice mix.
found here http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=3112.0;nowap (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=3112.0;nowap)
:)
p.s. if you wanted to make it last longer, mix only the dry spices. then when you come to use it, make a dry paste with mustard oil. ;)
cheers, frank.

Thanks Frank,
That explains it, All I got to do now is figure out what is what with the spices, Unless of course we have a spice wizard on here somewhere ;D

The Bassar Curry Masala that I use (Al Noor) is bone dry, and lasts at least two years, although it does start to lose its pungency by the end of that time, but some Achari Masala (http://www.luminescents.co.uk/catalog/popup_image.php?pID=1870&osCsid=hjd0lb6lra0fjrlbjjbtgauq93) that I bought recently looks and feels distinctly oily.

I was more thinking that if I posted you a sample, you would then have something with which to compare your own version. I have plenty, so there is definitely enough to spare.

Hi Hotstuff,
Would it be possible for you to get a new credit card with a low limit on it like 100 quid? That way you can only get shafted so far. I don't know if this is possible because the banks seem to want to raise your card limit all the time.
I just noticed that spicesofindia.co.uk advertise the paypal logo so maybe that's an option too.
A final option might be so see if a supplier like the above would accept a cheque via the post.
Personally I can't see you replicating a bassar mix easily without exact quantities to follow.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Phil
I'm going to try PaulP's suggestion, " A final option might be so see if a supplier like the above would accept a cheque via the post."
I'll ring them Monday and see what they say, If not I would like to take you up on your offer if it's still open
Thanks PaulP
The cheque is a good idea, Going to give it a try

Not cooking anything in particular Paul, I was reading some of the replies to CT vid's the other day, and one of his comments was that if you use Basser Powder that you will get a Pakistani style of curry, Having never had a Pakistani curry, thought it was time to try one and see what the difference was between the two (Indian/Pakistani)
HS
PS
I have never seen any Pakastani recipes on cr0 I don't think

I hoping to have some Bassar mix from a long standing member on here, wont give their name as it wouldn't be fair until ask, hope to be arriving some time next week or week after, I'm away from home from the 9Th back on the sunday, will update you then. If I forget give me a nudge. :)
If this mix is the same as it was before it is amazing & very hot too, great for curries & all sorts of things ;)

Guys, sorry to be anal, but this (like many other posts recently) is NOT a recipe and should have been posted (and now moved to) the Supplementary Recipes CHAT section or Recipe REQUESTS section of the forum.
