Have to say that the Chicken Tikka (Blade's recipe) was beautiful, so really i have no need to buy a Tandoor oven (which i was contemplating buying one). The BBQ i have is called Billyho
http://mydeco.com/p/billyoh-bbqs-classic-platinum-3-burner-stainless-steel-gas-barbecue-with-side-burner/GB000005WYVH4T43IRJZZRV7NM65VZYB2VLOI7YG/ (http://mydeco.com/p/billyoh-bbqs-classic-platinum-3-burner-stainless-steel-gas-barbecue-with-side-burner/GB000005WYVH4T43IRJZZRV7NM65VZYB2VLOI7YG/)

The temp got to 200 degrees in around 7-8 minutes with the three burners on full, was very impressed and for the price, we paid 179.00 GBP with free delivery, going to cook some steak this afternoon.

Hi Unclefrank,

I also make this Tikka Masala recipe, but I also add 6 tbsp coconut milk powder (maggi) and also mix that with 200 ml of single cream and I put the almond powder in with that too, whisk it until you get a smooth paste, then add it after you've added the base sauce, mix it in thoroughly and you end up with a super fine creamy Tikka Masala sauce.

This is the one I bought to the BBQ :)

Give it a try sometime :)

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I reduce the creamed coconut block to 100g instead of 200g.

One of the minor complaints I had with Lorrydoo's CTM (I've not mentioned it before, as I wanted to wait until the CTM Group Test results were published) was the taste of tomato soup came through a little too much. Do you think the modifications you make mask the taste of the tomato soup a little better, 976bar?

Hi Ramirez,

Yes definitely. I also found it a little too harsh with the tomato soup, that's why I reduced the coconut block, added the coconut milk powder and cream to create a more smooth finish to the dish.

If you find that the sauce is a little too thick then I also add 100ml of 2 percent semi skimmed milk.

Hope this helps.

The steak was excellent, very tasty and the mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes were wrapped in foil and left on the top shelf (Warming shelf), lovely.
The naans are from either Aldi or Lidl cant remember they are surprisingly nice (50p for two), thats my next mission to try and do naans on this new BBQ.

Regarding the CTM i have not had anybody saying they can taste tomato soup, but i do cook for a long time though, so the sauce i have is thick.
Then i get some dessicated coconut, or coconut powder whatever i have in the cupboard, i find the powder is a little too sweet so i use that for the kids, and add about 4-5 TBSP of boiling water to it (dessicated) and leave for around 10 minutes stirring it and pressing the coconut down to wring all the goodness and flavour from it.Then i add about 2 TPS of this liquid to the sauce ( when i make it its usually for 4-6 people) then add Chicken Tikka (pre-cooked) so the coconut taste goes into the chicken and into the sauce.

Looks lovely UF. Nice one.

Regarding the CTM - what I couldn't work out was whether I was tasting the tomato soup because I knew it was there, or whether I could actually taste the soup. The recipe scored well for me in the group test, but I am going to give 976bar modifications a go.

I do try and grow my own ingredients for making my curries, but we have quite a few food markets by where i live, so i always have a good stock of ingredients because i make curries around 3-4 times a week. Only used the BBQ on that day it was the first thing we cooked on it, cleaned it today, didnt take long to clean about 15 minutes, i am well pleased with this BBQ.
