Hi Guy's,
Not been on for a few weeks as I've embarked on the latest craze, 'Glamping' (glamorous camping)
Anyway, we pitched our tent in 2.5 hours flat :( (youtube vid only took 20 mins max) we had about three good arguments, the wife stormed off twice, it started raining, and the dog ran off!
Tent finally up, we set up the kitchen, and curry was on the menu ;D
I 'cranked' up the disposable bbq, and got to grips with the chicken tikka. Next on the bbq, went the seekh kebabs, whilst I got to grips with 2 off chicken tikka bhunas and 1 off chicken tikka Jal Frezi.
Within minutes, there was a little crowd gathering about 10 meters away, all sniffing the air with that 'mmm, something smells good' expression on their faces.
They was of course correct, it wasn't only good, it was great, and if they would have been a little more helpful when I was struggling putting the tent up, I may have even offered them a plate, ah well, such is life!
Something about outdoor cooking really takes the food to another level for me 8)
Anyhow, here's a couple of pics to whet you appetites
Chicken Tikka (sorry Phil, they're red lol)

Phil,
I can assure you my friend, that is grass, or should I say 'was' as when I went to dispose of the bbq, there was a lovely scorched square of turf left behind, hense a bollocking from the camp warden and me nearly losing my 20 quid deposit lol
Ray ::)

That'll teach you to barbecue on the nice new Astroturf carpet in the living room :) And you wait till I tell your missus that you call her "The Camp Warden" on CR0 -- it'll be more than
-
I would never call the missus the 'Camp Warden' no no no, the missus is the 'Camp Commandant' ;D

A camping trip just isn't complete without a complete fiasco when putting up the tent. ;D
Great pics Ray. I think there is something magical about cooking when camping, especially when there is a quite a few people.

Hi Razor we do this nearly every weekend (weather permitting) in Stourport and take frozen curries already made just needs reheating, usually get a few peolple asking where the Indian Take away is, we go camping with about 8-10 folks and the curry serves all.
Madras, Chicken Dhansak, Chicken Tikka Masala,Sheek kebabs, Parathas (all of these are frozen) and alot of beer, i just put each curry in pots and let people help themselves.
Get yourself one of these http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/royal-table-top-bbq-camping-stove-p133043 (http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/royal-table-top-bbq-camping-stove-p133043)

this is great for cooking on, out of the way of the curries, i leave mine on floor of tent slowly bubbling away the CTM.And the BBQ you can just slap your parathas on there with the lid on and within 3-5 minutes wonderful hot breads.

Looks good. You just can not beat an alfresco curry. Must be the fresh air. Gonna have to dust of the old canvas lung.

Hi UF,
Thanks for the links mate. As it happens, Asda are doing a little bbq for 8 quid, which will do the job. Not a bad peice of kit, fold nice and compact.
Thanks for the comments coogan, think you're right, cooking in the outdorrs certainly adds a little something.
Hey Alan, I'm not quite upto going every weekend, but I've gotta say, I'm really getting a taste for it. I haven't ventured out of the North West as of yet but planning on doing something in Wales soon. Any good areas up your way pal?
Ray :)

Curry on Camping, looks great fun mate.
Were you cooking by instinct or are these your published recipes?
What do you put in your Keema?
Cheers ;D

Hi Chewy,
Here's my recipe for my seekh kebabs, although I only add one slice of white bread these days http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=4393.0 (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=4393.0)
As for the curries, they are my own recipes but again, I tend just just go with the flow at the time. As long as the Jaf frezi has got onion, peppers, green chillis and Toms in there, everything else that goes in is pretty much off the cuff so to speak. As for fun, it was great fun mate, really enjoyed it, especially seeing people sniffing the air, very satisfying.
Hey Gary, I've seen the likes of them campsites before. That's what you call glamping my friend ;D

I'll give it a go ;) I'm experimenting, with Kofta curries at the moment and your recipe should work well :D
cheers

nice pics bet the other campers were rather jealous! :)

Hi Ray,
I go to a place called Keld (hidden Gem) its on the half way point of the coast to coast walk.
The campsite i go on provide free fire pits (good for jacket potatoes :P)and good clean washing facilities and the scenery is second to none. Not far from the Tan Hill Pub and the Keld lodge;D.
I used to also go to Fisherground camping in eskdale green, thats in the north west about 2 miles from Boot on the road leading to the hard knott pass.
very popular with fellow Mancs like yourself mate, you do get the odd scouser kicking about as well though :o
Both really good campsites in there own right. I tend to go to Keld a lot more due to the fact that it only takes one and half hours to get there as opposed to three hours for fisherground.
Probably will be both the same distance for yourself. Check them out mate its like a different world when you get there away from the rat race called life. :)

Hi emin-j,
bet the other campers were drooling ;D
It was good fun watching all the other campers munching on burnt burgers and over boiled hot dogs whilst we was tucking into some top quality nosh ;D
Can't wait for next time, I'm planning on blasting out some good old 80's style indian retaurant music from the tent whilst we eat, that should turn a few heads hahaha ;D
Ray :)
