I am trying to find out equivalent values for whole spice and its ground form. Specifically I am after, clove, cinnamon stick and cardamon, but would welcome any others.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Are you after volume? Also in some recipes whole is specified due to the difference in notes given by the spice, think whole garlic and crushed.

Yes, initially my thought is to converting the amount of whole spice required to ground form such clove. For example, if a recipe calls for 10 cloves what might be the quantity of ground?
Your second comment now has me pausing for thought. I would still like to know what the conversions might be, but for tonight's recipe, I will air on the side of caution and use thw whole spices.

Rule is 1 Tbsp of whole spices equals to 1 Tsp of dried spices.
1/4 tsp of whole cloves is approximately 3 whole cloves. So 10 whole cloves is roughly 3/4 Tsp ground cloves.
Hope that helps.
