Title: My Curry is too sweet. How do I tone it down?????
Post by: 976bar on July 11, 2010, 11:08 AM
I made a Beef Dansak on Friday, but I've made it too sweet for my liking.

How do you neutralise the sweetness please?

The only way that I know of is to add either salt or vinegar/lemon/tamarind (or both). It'll change the flavour but will definitely moderate the sweetness.

Hi bar

What recipe did you use ? if it was Ca's id try playing with the amount of pineapple juice and sugar to adjust the sweetness to your liking i usually leave mine until the end then add it bit by bit until i get it to where i like it

Hi Jamie,

This was made using the slow cooker method, so unfortunately everything was already in the pot. I guess not only does a slow cooker bring out some awesome flavours, but it increases the sweetness of anything you put in there too!! lol
