Wow, my home ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I grew up in Hayes near Heathrow :)
A little bit of History here although most won't want to hear it. My best friend when I was at School was a Greek guy named Alex. His Greek name was Kimon Alexandros Palos and his dad owned a Greek restaurant in Hayes called the Apalonia.
My friend used to play Bazouki at the weekends and I used to serve the wine etc.... it was a great atmosphere until his dad decided to sell the restaurant and retire down to salisbury.
The restaurant was sold to Indian's and became the "Palash Tandoori" where I first cut my teeth so to speak on Indian food. This was back in the late 70's and my first Lamb Korma was heaven in itself..... I could not get enough of the stuff and would often venture down there during lunchtimes, (yes lunchtimes when Indian restaurants used to open for lunch, but not so much nowadays..... I wonder why?) to try and get a deal for lunch as I did not earn much money back in those days.... funnily enough I still don't earn enough today, but I digress as Ronnie Corbett would say..... :) And I remember rightly in those days a Lamb Korma would bring me out in a sweat!!! lol
Anyway, this restaurant was the bees knees, it's right next to the Barclays Bank in Hayes High Street just over the canal Bridge along from the railway station.
I haven't been there for years now having moved out to Berkshire, but I wouldn't mind betting that it could still be a wonderful restaurant.
I'm gonna go back there one day just for the nostalgia and will see if it's just as good as when I used to go there back in the 70's and 80's.....
Please by all means give it a try and let me know how you get on. I'm sure it's only a short taxi ride away from the Thistle :)
It brings back a lot of memories...... :)
