OK guys I am moving house in two weeks and need to sort out TV, phone and internet. Currently with Virgin Media, great broadband and phone but crappy TV interface. I think as far as bundled packages are concerned my options are to stay with Virgin or move to Sky or BT.
What are your experiences of TV, phone or broadband providers and do you know of any good consumer forum sites that deal with this?
-
u've got to decide how much is TV to u.
if freeview is good enough then talk talk.

I want to like Virgin but I just can't. I have multiroom and to get two Virgin boxes - especially with HD - would cost a lot. I have Sky HD in the lounge and regular Sky+ in the bedroom, I also have their phone package as it is free and discounts the Broadband by ?5 a month, the broadband is getting upgraded so everyone on the middle tier gets 20MB (depending on where you live of course).
I like the sky EPG and the speed at which it works. I used to have NTL and it was slooooooow. I hear the Virgin boxes have similar problems now.
The big plus points for Virgin is the range of on demand content available, plus I think their broadband goes up to 50MB and as it is cable it doesn't matter how far you are away from the BT exchange.
Hope this helps.

I've heard stuff about poor customer support from talk talk but maybe that's a myth?

I agree I think their broadband is good but their tv lets them down

Right guys I have decided to go with Sky HD, 20MB Broadband and phone - all to be installed on 20 May - here's hoping.

Stephen,
make sure u've requested the right installation team (low level & high level) - depends on if there is a clear line of sight to the dish from the satellite ie no trees or obstructions. if there are u need their proper team - the std team barley know how to use a ladder.

I've never met anyone with a good word to say about talktalk...we tried them a couple of years ago and it was horrendous, we're ex-directory (always have been) but once we signed to talktalk we had unbelievable amounts of cold callers at all hours of the day & night and anyone we know that's used them have had the similar problems...though they did get done for selling on their customer's details not so long ago so they've probably stopped that off lol ;D

Hey Domi,
Are you Virgin ::) ..................................Virgin media that is ;D
Ray :-*

No luv, I'm a Demon ;D Demon broadband that is....in all other things I'm virginal ;)...or should that be vaginal...erm...nevermind :P
Virgin on the ridiculous would be more apt....before anyone else says it! hehe

hahaha, my bezzy mate is a Sky engineer. I'm gonna ask him if his ladder came with operational instructions hahah.
Ray :)

Razor,
sky contract the work out a lot and that's where the problems are. the sky engineers that are employed by sky are real good and seem to only do the difficult jobs. the contractors don't seem to have their own ladder instructions.
-
Hi Jerry, the trouble with the outside contractors is that they're only allowed to do exactly what's on the paperwork, they're not allowed to do any additional outside work etc unless it's stated on their documents...they don't get paid for it otherwise. Gone are the days of a bloke turning up and just doing whatever needs to be done, I'm afraid - if it's not in their remit they aint gonna do it lol

Virginmedia all the way, I've had it a few years now - fantastic
I had sky too, fantastic but i live a long way from a BT exchange so sky bb was 1mb. Virgin I get 20mb, a big difference for a family with 4 computers.
Now I am hearing about sky hd so I have been looking at that but to combine the two works out expensive.
All in all both are very good so you cant go wrong with either.
cheers
