Title: Marinated lamb chops
Post by: Curry King on July 04, 2005, 10:25 AM
I had a dish chucked in as a freebie a while ago which was bascily 3 or 4 lamb chops in a rich sauce, anyone any idea what this dish is and even better how to make it?  :)

Only some fresh tomato pieces as far as I remember.

Lamb Rogan josh or Lamb Bhuna both have tomatoes in.
Was it quite a subtle slightly sweet dish somewhat like a very mild Vindalloo in flavor ?
& not have much Garlic in ?
As the above dishes at my local are very much along those lines.

It was small and I assumed it was a side, theres no way I think it was a full curry.

My local can do a side dish version of all their Curries & they do their side dishes as full meals so it could be a full meal in side dish quantity maybe ?

Wonder if it could have been Nihari? A traditional Pakistani dish, never had it with chops though, usually just with 'random meat carnage' on the bone.

Was the sauce quite thin, very savoury, but very unlike a BIR, and with perhaps a touch of fennel/star anise flavour? If so it could be Nihari.

You can buy Shan's Nihari Masala from most good Pak/Indian grocers, well worth a go :)
