If we want to get this group COOKING what about organising a convention! I live in Northants and am sure I could organise a venue. If we organised it well in advance we could get members to volunteer their sevices in demonstrating their basic sauces and end results. THEN WE COULD ALL EAT THEM! Vote on our favourate like the Pudding Club do. Even give a trophy to the best !What do you all think

I think it's a great idea, but given the wide area that the members of a group such as this will come from, I doubt that it would get the attendance.
One problem with organising these things is that people will say they'll come, and then not turn up. I've seen events that groups have organised where twenty people said they'd go, and the organisers have ended up with just one person.
It's a great pity, but it seems to be a fact of life.

Judging by the replies it was a daft idea any way!

It was a good idea, trouble is this group is so few on the ground!

Give it time (like the basic sauce!)

I like the idea, but I can't see it happening
I live in Nottingham
If we got together it would be great, if there was a chef, who was going to show us all something.
I've got problems finding one that speaks fluent English
I considered doing a London trip to Brick Lane, where there is a restaurant that gives a cooking lesson
But that is 120 miles away!!

Hi,
I'm on a course in London in a month or so's time and I plan to book the lesson. I will report back what I find. I guess a lot will depend on whether you cook everything from scratch or use their ready made gravies. Either way, I'm looking forward to finding out!
