was looking on the web and found this. quite interesting, so i thought i would post it here for the curryhead community!  :)

madras ingredients - sainsbury takeaway

List of Main Ingredients only.

Coconut Milk,

Rapeseed Oil,
Tomato,
Coconut (2%)
Coconut Powder,
Red Chilli,

Chicken Paste,
Sugar,
Yogurt (from Cow's Milk)
Ground Coriander
Chilli Powder,
Malt Extracts,
Cornflour,
Garam Masala,
Salt,
Turmeric,
Pepper,
Curry Leaf,
Fenugreek.

Actually I remember Sainsbury's Madras from the time I lived in England.

If I recall, it was actually pretty good for what it was.

Nowhere near BIR, but not a bad meal nonetheless.

you are not wrong, it tastes really scrummy. not quite bir, but still good grub, at  a third of the price of a real TA. i am tweaking my madras with a few of the ingredients from this recipe, like rapeseed oil , and some fresh red chilly, + yogurt. The sainsbury madras is obviously made from a base gravy, as it also has a nice runny sauce.  :P
