Title: Curry Secret books costing 180 pounds
Post by: George on May 04, 2008, 02:27 PM
Are these seller(s) fishing for anyone who might make a simple mistake and order in error? They are charging GBP180 for a book which I'm sure you can readily find down most high steets for less than a fiver. Perhaps it's you know who!

to be fair... they could be selling the original copies which are close to 20 years old I think.

I've bought quite a lot of books from Amazon over the years and I have noticed that ocasionally the second hand books appear to be extremely expensive (especially if Amazon dont have them in stock).

Like this book - Charmaine Solomons Encyclopedia of Asian Food at 316.07

I recently bought an identical NEW copy from Waterstones at 39.95

The 100 best balti book used to be silly prices as well but that seems to come down:

It's the first editions that fetch the price.

Pat Chapman is selling some first editions of his books, for around the hundred quid mark, on his site.  Worth every penny.

No way, I take it by the time you get down to the 8th edition of the same book he is giving them away  :o
