Greetings to all curry lovers and cooks from here in Scotland.
I hope to be an active member and give and take opinions on any aspect of the prefect curry sauce base.
I have already made a base from Darth`s recipe and can confirm it is a very good one, Thank you Darth
I am looking forward to an informative guide to good food and finding that exclusive curry base from B I R`s...Norrie.

Alright Norrie - you sound like a man who's made a fair whack of curry! Have you much experience in cooking and / or BIR cooking?
-
Yes BB I have made one or two as I have been making curries good, bad and wicked for the last 20 odd years and I think I`m not bad at it
I have never made one though as good as Glasgow`s Mother India, now that is a fantastic night out, if you are ever in the area GO and feed yourself with the best curry in Scotland in my opinion..thanks for the reply ..cheers Norrie

Welcome Norrie

Thanks to all for the warm welcomes.
The first base sauce I tried was from the secret curry bood by Kris Dhillon and I thought it was not all that good,I remember thinking there was not enough spice to the base, to make and store in the freezer and be happy with.
I have been taking bits from that book and others to try to make something that resembles a BIR base but like most of the forum you think its good, then buy a local takeaway and your marks out ten for your own somewhat slide down the ladder.
I think that Madhur Jaffray has a very good book (the ultimate curry bible) and a lot of her recipes are of good quantities and easy to get spices, especially the wonderful curry powder which she recommended, its made by bolst`s and I can very much recommend it too.
I think you have to buy it in rather large tins and I keep it in an old washed out coffee jar to keep it air tight..Norrie
