I never used to know how to take GR's attitude, but after watching loads of K.N i see that he is so passionate about food, its not just an industry to him but a way of life.
Just a shame that 90% of chefs dont care as much as he does, the amount of restaurants and foodhalls that i have been in and the food has been just thrown together and bland as hell.
I have to say that i like to put a lot of effort into my cooking, and not just my curries.
With the way things turned out at home, i learnt to cook starting at the age of ten, and it has held me in such good stead.
Cooking is an art, and thank god i have made more masterpieces than graffiti. ;D

Without passion there would be no attitude ;D By the way - I watched the US KN a few months ago and it amazes me that there are worse "chefs" over there than over here :o and I use the term "chef" very loosely :-X although some would say I'm loose with more than words >:( (right mike? :P lol)
I'm a huge Gordon Ramsay fan 8) (not in girth lol...... ::) OK OK before Cory says anything.....in girth too :-\ ) and I'd be happy to have him scream at me all day if I got the same results culinary-wise as his understudies (I usually have to pay for someone to talk to me like that :-[ ;D).

I've just finished watching the first season of Kitchen Nightmares US and I thought it was fantastic. If you don't like GR to start with this won't change your mind but seeing these so called chefs get schooled by Ramsey is a laugh a minute.
Heres a preview:

A highlight for me was in one episode GR finds some mouldy pesto that he had eaten the day before, classic :-X

I cant belive your all taken in by a Television Series.
Its only a tv prog and not real life
remember what the telly is for...
entertainment !!
Graeme.

you mean that eastenders isnt real???? its just all made up???
cmon graeme, yes K.N is 'made for television' but is depicts real restaurants, with real problems, G.R comes up with real solutions and has the knack of how to play the cameras and make it entertainment.
there is no doubting his genuinity.
just wish i got paid to shout and curse as much as him when me basmati goes wrong and mushy, lol

Hi,
Its all a big play for the camera, thats all telly is
one big soap.
I dont think that much of GR or his production
team, they always bring the show down to the lowest
level possible. Even the cook along last week
had to offend.
I did enjoy his very early show but he's ott now
and any credit he did have has long since gone.
"Just a shame that 90% of chefs dont care as much as he does"
he may care about his telly food show but he did not seem to care
much about the scooter he broke in one of his "soaps"
vindalooney enjoy your cooking...
"I have to say that i like to put a lot of effort into my cooking,
and not just my curries"
Spot On :P

Graeme,
all i can say let us 'amateur cooks' get on with our cooking and the 'professionals' theirs.
I wonder if they take any time to look at sites such as ours here, and if they do, i would have confidence that it wouldnt just be maybe they learn something new, they WILL learn something new.
No-one can say they have the perfect recipe for this or that, as we all have different tastes and styles, and that is what makes cooking great, because it caters for everyone!!!
-
well personally I'd take an evening of GR compared to most of the other tripe that's on TV :D and whether it's hammed up for the cameras or not you can't deny the impact he makes on the businesses and their staff ;)
-
It maybe over the top and setup to a certain extent but it is great entertainment. If you don't like all swearing the US version is bleeped out :P
-
I would rather watch a test card
(not test card F mind you :-)
I think you get my opinion on GR so
i will shut up i am also out numbered :-)
This should tell me something :-X
-
LOL@Graeme......can you teach my hubby that trick? :D

Hi Domi ;) nice to hear from you again chuck. I am surprised a gal like you watches such a programme with all that bad language going on. As for Kitchen Nightmares, you either love it or hate it. My Mrs is a big Gordon fan so it`s on in our house. How come, when he goes to an English Restaurant, most of his time is spent watching them cook in the kitchen. But, when he visited The Curry Lounge we hardly saw any cooking at all. As for the rest of TV, we could always watch. I`m a Celebrity Dancing on Ice with my Big Brother in the Jungle so Get Me Out of Here. ;D ;D

I quite like Ramsay, okay the Nightmares series is cleverly edited for entertainment but at the end of the day its real business's and real livelihoods that are at stake.
I enjoy most cooking programs I'm not really that bothered if they are sensationalised or not as long as they are interesting, its 'popcorn' entertainment. Some of my recent 'watches' are Hells Kitchen US, Iron Chef and The Next Iron Chef.
A good site to catch up these and lots of other series is http://www.surfthechannel.com/
