Can you name a quality Indian cookbook or two.
For me it has to be;
50 Great Curries of India by Camellia Panjabi (even with the errors)
Indian Cookery by Madhur Jaffrey
Classic Indian Cookery by Julie Sahni
A Taste Of Punjab by Lali Nayar
Tandoor by Ranjit Rai (especially with the BBQ season upon us)
Indian Cookery, A Practical Guide by Dharamjit Singh

Hi tempest63, ;) apart from books borrowed from the library I have two I bought.
Step by Step Guide to Indian Cooking. By Khalid Aziz.
Indian Cookery. By Bay Books Cookery Collection.
I did have "The Curry Secret" Kris Dhillon. But gave it away not long after joining this site..
I found the information at the start of 50 Great Curries of India to be very helpful but only tried the Homestyle basic curry and I added a bit of Onion`s base sauce. Turned out quite nice.. ;D

I have but a few...
"Indian Cooking" by Lalita Ahmed from 1981. I think my mum (who was born in Calcutta) gave me this, I forget, while I was a student to persuade me to cook!
"Indian Cookery" by Dharamjit Singh. Descibes authentic Indian cookery in the classical style.
"The Indian Kitchen" by Monisha Bharadwaj. Good descriptions of spices.
