Title: Nishan fried onion curry base
Post by: Mark J on March 26, 2005, 06:58 AM
I saw this sat on the shelf at Morrisons and thought 'my god, now even supermarkets are stocking curry base, cool!'. Sadly having used it last night to make a curry it is poor - avoid!

I didnt use it quite as it said on the label but used it as we would use a normal curry base.

Hi Mark,

Yes I've tried it too.  I thought it might give that taste if used in smaller quantities than they suggest on the jar.  It has got a caramelized onion element to it, but, I think the additives have spoiled its potential.  I have a jar in the cupboard just in case I am inspired again.

Cheers,

Blondie

Yes it gives the curry a heavy caramalised onion taste (although I did use the whole jar  ;D)
