Title: Really noddy noob type question!

Hi,

I have a real noob question, in the Bruce Edwards recipes are the quantities he lists for making the actual curries for ONE person? Ie. I'd need to double all ingredients for two people?

Simple I know - but I'm not quite clear and it's kind of key!

Hi i am sorry no was has given you help
with this question, even i dont know.

But I would think the final dish would be for one person,
however the curry base would be made to complete
many single Curry's.

I can only suggest you read the info and
have a go at cooking and come back with
your results.

I don't know who has cooked Bruice Edwards
curries but don't forget lots of other stuff on this site too.

Nezza, the average portion from a BIR is 5-6 oz 9you can work out the grams) so calculate back from there.  Sorry but cannot be any more help.

Hi nezza,

The bruce ewards stuff is aimed at per person but in my opinion is still not right. These need to be cooked per person you should not double on quantities and do 2 at the same time. It just does not work out.

Andy that's really interesting. Are you saying that all dishes are cooked individually? Even if there's an order for, say, three madrases, you cook all three individually? That's quite a clue :)

Hi yf

Yes if 3 madrases were ordered they would be cooked at the same time but done in 3 individual pans as 3 individual dishes. I have said previous that you cannot just double up or half quantities. The resulting flavour is completely different.

Example.

2 teaspoons of chilli in 10 fl oz of sauce is not twice as hot as 1 teaspoon of chilli in 10 fl oz of sauce. This applies to all ingredients and the tastes that they produce.

         At one place they definitely double up in one pan
I've seen them do that with chicken korma a couple of times
I haven't seen it with any other curries though

Yes seen it done with korma. We dont with any but korma should be ok
