Title: problems
Post by: foureyes1941 on October 19, 2016, 05:56 PM
Each time I log on to this website my computer starts playing up and I have a box come up to the internet is not responding and it freezes. It is such a shame as I love this site and it's getting to be a real pain, does anyone else have this problem when signing on? It is only this site.

Has this happened only since the recent forum software changes ?

Fine for me also. Foureyes have you tried using a different browser?

I feel your pain - Anita
After the update, an very annoying Malware appeared when using Chrome and Safari
(an unwanted adware-type program (PUP) called Turbomac.
It replaces Googles Adchoices completely  :o

Aswell as pop up Ad banners everywhere on a page,
it will even break up a post and plonk a leaderboard amongst the text ::)

What a Son .Of. A. B to get rid of

Luckily Firefox is unaffected. Downside is Chrome runs faster and became my default.
But a lesson learned not to clickthrough any of the links or the intrusive Ads on this site.

I've used Firefox for the last 5 years or so and it's really good, may not be the faster browser but never had a problem with it.

After a few minutes after I've clicked to the page I want, a box comes up which says
'The identity of the website or the integrity of the connection cannot be verified, do you want to proceed? yes, no, view certificate'

Then I get 'Internet explorer has stopped working, a problem caused the programme to stop working.'
Close programme'

I then have to close down and start again.

So frustrating!

Update your IE to the latest version via Windows Update, install all other important Windows Updates.

Better: Get Firefox and install these plugins:

https://noscript.net/
https://www.ublock.org/

With these you can block bad scripts and ads that cause your browser to crash. You can still let scripts and ads run if you want/need to.
