Title: Thought I'd try something new
Post by: Edwin Catflap on February 09, 2016, 08:45 PM
Always fancied trying paneer so opted for paneer tikka a la Blade style. All with some lemon, chaat masala and yoghurt (shop bought  :-\ ) in a wrap with salad and onions. A definite winner, another good use of Blades marinade  :)

Blades Tikka marinade is always my first choice, never found anything to beat it myself.

Nice looking paneer.

Its a doddle to make and works out a lot cheaper. Made some a few months ago for a veggie mate coming to a BBQ at mine. Doesn't take long and I just bought a piece of muslin from the Kilner stand in Wilkinsons to make it.

Of course I didn't take any photos and remember after it was scoffed  :(

How long did you marinade it for Edwin?
@Gav - how does the flavour of home made paneer compare to shop bought stuff?

Never bought it in a shop. Always previously had it in a restaurant but I went to buy some to try a tikka dish and thought 2 pints of milk was cheaper (god i'm getting tighter in my old age...help).

This may be the recipe but i can't really remember as I looked at a few

Anyway is was easy and i dare say you can add subtle flavourings to it etc as it dosen't have a lot of taste (cottage cheese). Quite fancy trying this though

Hi CH marinated for 24 hrs using Blades recipe, only difference was it was Pasco paste not Pataks as I like that and Laziza better than Pataks

Hey Gav - that chilli paneer looks soooo good! Have to have a go at that! Never made paneer before, looks quite easy, and never knew it only took 30 mins. Looks to be some really good recipes on that vegrecipesofindia site.

Edwin - does the paneer absorb much flavour?

Hi meggeth yeah I reckon it absorbs more than chicken
