Title: Why is George still moderating?
Post by: Madrasandy on April 18, 2015, 08:08 AM
Why?
By a large majority the polls showed that George is not wanted as a moderator.
George why haven't you just re-signed?
Instead you don't post for a while then come back on as if nothing has happened and instantly begin trolling.
I for one am sick of this and will not be posting until action is taken, any body else in?

No, I'm not "in", and I don't think the question is a fair one.  Yes, by an significant majority those members voting (a tiny fraction of our overall membership) expressed the view that George should resign or be dismissed as moderator.  And George has clearly taken that to heart, and has subsequently kept his finger off the moderation button, for which I give him credit.  But he remains a member, and therefore has the right to post -- there is no connection between the call for him to resign/be dismissed as moderator and his right to post.  Like you, I feel that there are times when George is being deliberately provocative, and I do not think that such posts serve any useful purpose, but calling for George to resign as moderator does not accomplish anything when he has already effectively ceased moderating.

Hey MA,
Technically anyone agreeing to this post will be making there last post, as agreeing to the above no more posting until action is taken could take a long time if ever.

I would find it a disappointment to see anyone stop posting.

But I agree with Phil in his above post, I think he makes a fair point above.

[ he has already effectively ceased moderating.

I would be very surprised if that was anything but temporary. He will stop 'moderating' until he thinks people have forgotten and then start again as if nothing has happened. He has already recommenced trolling.

We are the moderators, aren't we Onions?  That would be a collective "we" so, by virtue of his active membership, George cannot be "not a moderator".

Of course there is the other possibility that there are only 2 moderators and the Owner / Administrator of the site is happy for George to stay in his role. In which case this thread is just another trolling episode by the trolls calling George a troll.  Now I'll be accused of trolling.

I'm not trolling livo, I'm seriously pissed with George a posts, they are all pointless and aimed getting a reaction  from those on here.
I for one after today will not be posting on here and will take all my recommendation links to this site off all the chilli, curry and food groups etc that I belong

You are perfectly entitled to do that and if it is your chosen course of action, I'm certain you have given it considerable thought. It is a shame you have reached this conclusion. I meant no personal slight upon you about this new thread but it is just another attempt to pre-empt or influence the administrators actions.

We've been over this and Stu has chosen to do nil. This would suggest he is OK with George. I can accept that.

Quote Onions from locked thread.

As do I livo, I should have been much clearer that i was being ironic about 'mods' if you know what I mean.

Now, lets get back to George's trolling, pictures of beans on toast, curries!!! (joke)

;)  :D

Its embarrassing when I have recommended this site to many people and they message me saying how they wont be joining as there is too much internal arguing and general bad feelings on here, and utter rubbish pointless posts. George's name has been mentioned on occasion too.
Its a shame as this is the best resource for Indian Restaurant cooking on the net, and it could flourish , but at this time it wont.
And for that reason as of midnight tonight I am no longer a member on here

I agree it is a shame that you have come to this point.  I, along with others, have been trying to point to the infighting as a major disruption of the site for many months.  I recently said that it is damaging in amongst other problems and you unfortunately are the proof. Here is what I said only a week or so ago:

"We should all step back and look at this for what it is.
A mistake.
Bad practice.
Waste of energy.
Petty.
Unnecessary.
Damaging "

Your contribution will be sorely missed.

Unfortunately most of this stems back to some people's insistence on the use of bad language.  Look back over the major disputative threads in the last 10 - 12 months and you will see that the majority of moderation conflict has come about when George has had to apply moderation to these posts.  This is not to say that other mistakes haven't been made.

And for perspective: (10 minutes ago)
Hello Everyone!

I made my first BIR style curry last Sunday thanks to this awesome website.

I followed the instructions for UB's Chicken Pathia (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php/topic,2526.0.html (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php/topic,2526.0.html)) and end result was fantastic!  ;D

Cheers,

Ok it's tome for me step in and say a few words.  I maybe should have added these to the other two threads at the time of locking them, but i really did not want to draw any further attention to them.

The question of George continuing on as a moderator is not a matter for us to sort out.  This ultimately is Admin's decision which may or may not be made in consultation with George, who may or may not wish to continue as moderator.
EVERYBODY who cared to has had their say and voiced their opinon in either or both of the locked threads and in some cases elsewhere.
Taking into consideration that Admin has been visible today and on several ocassions recently, he will be fully aware of the tension as well as the high emotions that  have been shown recently.  I am sure his mod screen is far more informative than mine  :)

From my point of view, the subject is now closed and the outcome of the events of the last couple of weeks will be apparent as time goes on.  Therefore, I plan to try and move things along and I will now delete any post or topic that makes any mention to do with the subject of this thread with the exception of an announcement coming from either Admin or George.  I hope everybody is clear, as my actions will be, should i encounter any such posts.

The content of this thread will be deleted shortly, as will the topic, once people have had the opportunity to read my comments and stance on the matter.  Sorry guys, but i really do have better things to be doing than dealing with this ***** every other day  >:(  It really is now time to move on, one way or another  ???
