Hmmm, is it wrong to have so many mix powders? They are all so different, but all equally good IMO!

No, but it was wrong to post this topic to 'main dishes chat' so I moved it.
Also, why start a new thread, when there's another current thread about mix powders?

Ouch :(

Hi Matt I'm really interested in this. Can you tell me how much difference you notice in the results you get cooking the same recipe with different mix powder? Do you really notice the difference?

Why not just PM the offender, rather than try to make them look stupid?

Madmatt,
Really good post. I don't know enough about mix powders. For me they can change the taste as much as the base can.
Not wrong for sure.
Would be interesting how/when you use them.
I used to keep 3: mouchak, DD, kushi.
I found each was better for different dishes. A sort of:
1) madras mix
2) cream mix
3) pepper mix

Yep I do believe a mix powder can alter the overall taste as much as having a good base can, Im currently using Abduls 8spice, I want to change but don't feel the need to as I am so happy with all my curries at the moment, but I do believe an excellent mix powder could lift my curry a % or 2
